Phospholipid Fatty Acid (PLFA) analysis is a method used to categorize the microbes in a microbial community from an ecological sample. Sherlock™ Software has been used for decades to support Gas Chromatography sample analysis.
Sherlock software is currently supported for PLFA applications and has the following capabilities:
- Extract microorganism sample for PLFA analysis
- Measure the sample with GC
- Automatically names all the PLFAs and NLFAs in a sample
- Categorizes them by microbial origin
- Performs biomass calculations and ratios
Biomass (nmol/g) by Microbial Type
PLFA Origin | Biomass |
Gram-Positive | 30.98 |
Gram-Negative | 59.36 |
AM Fungi | 6.59 |
Fungi | 4.62 |
Actinomycetes | 7.23 |
Other Eukaryote | 15.70 |
Not Assigned | 37.33 |
Total PLFA | 161.81 |
