Phospholipid Fatty Acid (PLFA) analysis is a method used to categorize the microbes in a microbial community from an ecological sample. Sherlock™ Software has been used for decades to support Gas Chromatography sample analysis.

Sherlock software is currently supported for PLFA applications and has the following capabilities:

  • Extract microorganism sample for PLFA analysis
  • Measure the sample with GC
  • Automatically names all the PLFAs and NLFAs in a sample
  • Categorizes them by microbial origin
  • Performs biomass calculations and ratios
